Hi! I’m Eli. I’m a mid-30s professional with the goal of retiring from my current career within the next 10 years. I believe in frugality, sustainability, and generosity, and I don’t think those things are incompatible.
About This Blog
This blog was born as a side dish to my full-time work in 2015 as a way for me to share my love of all things financial with my friends on the Internet (i.e., you) because my friends in real life are sick of hearing about it.
The mantra of personal finance is “spend less than you earn.” This blog tracks my own journey to financial independence and, hopefully, might help you find the path that’s right for you. Most of my posts will generally fall into either the “spend less” or “earn more” category, though, knowing me, some won’t make any sense at all.
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the bloggers who have come before me, many of whom I’m been following for years. The ideas I present on this blog are far from unique and wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for inspiration from the likes of Mr. Money Mustache, The Simple Dollar, Frugalwoods, and Frugal By Choice Cheap By Necessity, as well as the support of my friends over at Bottling Moonlight and Career Janet.
